We are a family-run, faith-guided shop, and our story is a big part of why we work the way we do.
Where did TinJToo Auto Repair begin?
TinJToo Auto Repair began with our owner, Jarred Berhow, who grew up in the St. Croix Valley inspired by his father’s machine shop. He graduated from Dunwoody College of Technology and earned ASE Master Certification, then started out on his own with nothing but a jack and a jack stand.
To earn ASE Master Certification, a technician passes all eight core ASE automobile tests, from engine repair, automatic transmissions and manual drivetrains to suspension and steering, brakes, electrical systems, heating and AC, and engine performance, along with hands-on work experience.
TinJToo Auto Repair grew into a Star Prairie shop in 2022
The business started small, with Jarred working as a mobile mechanic with a jack, a jack stand and a goal of doing the job right for a fair price. In 2022, that beginning grew into our shop at 170 County Hwy M in Star Prairie, which gives us the room and tools to diagnose and repair problems properly.
What does the name TinJToo mean?
The name carries our family history. TinJToo honors the original “Tinj” business that belonged to Jarred’s father. Tinj stands for “Trust IN Jesus,” the faith of two generations of the Berhow family. So every time you see our sign, you are looking at a nod to a father’s shop and to the faith that has guided our family ever since.
That faith shows up in simple ways: telling the truth about what your vehicle needs, keeping our word, and treating each customer like a neighbor.
Our history still shapes the way we repair cars today
The goal from the jack-and-jack-stand days has not changed: careful, honest work at a fair price from a mechanic you can trust. When we inspect your vehicle, you get a digital estimate on your phone with photos and videos, sorted into what needs attention now and what can wait.
